When was the last time you have seen 1940 Nash Lafayette 2-door cabriolet (convertible coupe) for sale on eBay! If you did see one it was probably converted to a retro rod. There are just very few original Nash Lafayettes to be found. The car in this listing has been in the same family since 1970, yes that is almost 50 years in one family!
The son of the man who purchased the car in 1970 tells us that it is a no rust car and he believes that it was painted last in 1973. The car was taken on a 250-mile cruise long before it was put away about eight years ago and has not been driven since. In the son’s opinion, he tells us that the car should start up and run just fine with some new plugs and fresh gas but he did remember that the shift linkage needed a couple new bushings, which he had purchased but never installed.
Mileage on odometer reads 77, 461 miles.
Flathead six engine believed to be original.
Original 3-speed manual on column with overdrive.

It is interesting to note that the father when he purchased this car back in the 1970s decided to put in overdrive and a very neat installation was done at that time. It allows the car to cruise all day long at 65 mph. Some people say that the lines of the car are similar to a 1940 Ford but much better looking. You just have to fall in love with the front grille setup, as it is so unique. The car has a very reasonable reserve, which the owner has asked us not to reveal. If you are the type of car collector who likes to have a totally unique car – and what car collector doesn’t…the 1940 Nash Cabriolet Deluxe Cabriolet is the car to have. Pre-War cars don’t get much better looking than this Nash Convertible. The touch of the fender skirts, the white wall tires and the stainless steel trim rings really give this car a distinctive look!
