Description:

1951 Nash Statesman Streamlined Aerodynamic Bathtub Nash
The Nash Statesman was built between 1949 and 1951, the cars proved to be very popular and found use in police departments around the US with a shorter wheel base then the Ambassadors. The Statesman power plant is known for its reliability and sturdiness from its decades old design of the L-Head Nash Light Six engine that was designed back in the 1920’s. By 1952 the “Bathtub” Nash’s ended their reign and to this date is still considered one of their most popular cars.
This 1951, Post World War II, Nash is in amazing condition. The more you look at it the more you will fall in love. It is a time warp car all the way down to its oil change tags in the door jam. The car has had a repaint although the jams appear to be in its original finish. The trim on this Statesman is impressive from the bumpers, body trim, emblems and mirrors. The brightwork will not disappoint. I think it says a lot that this car appears to have lived a majority of its life in Sunny California as evidenced by its overall condition. The interior appears freshly recovered with a dark green and light grey two tone appointments. Please review the photographs as I feel you would be hard pressed to find an example in this condition. If you have any questions or need additional photographs please do not hesitate to contact us. This Nash runs and drives extremely well and is a testament to how its been cared for all these years. I have driven it recently in hot weather and she does not overheat.

History:
The aerodynamic 1949 Nash Airflyte was the first car of an advanced design introduced by the company after the war. Its aerodynamic body shape was developed in a wind tunnel. Nils Wahlberg's theories on reducing an automobile body's drag coefficient resulted in a smooth shape and enclosed front fenders. The cutting-edge aerodynamics was the most alarming all-new postwar design in the industry.
