I bought this car 3.5 years ago and have driven it around 26, 000 miles. The car has 222, 600 miles now. Note one picture showing 218, 000 because i took these pictures 6 months ago.
I have done a lot of work on this car and the motor and transmission are in very strong shape and the car runs great!
There is No check engine or any other light on that needs attention.
This car runs great and its very reliable for long trips and work etc. The body does need some work though.
There are rust bubbles on the wheel well and both fenders have rust areas that were painted away without fixing. There is some rust under the car but i think that much is normal for this year car.
My wife backed out the car scraping the passenger door against the garage wall. I tried to fix it but made it worse (see picture). Because of that the passenger door creaks when opened.
Someone before me has done some really shoddy body work on this car. I never did much except the door and that was shoddy too.
One of the hubcaps fell off and i had a VW hubcap lying around so i replaced it with that.
Now the car is partly VW !. When i bought the car there was a stalling problem at traffic lights and stop signs. In order to fix that, i ended up replacing a lot of parts until i finally replaced the MAF sensor which was the culprit.
After that it never stalled again. I have taken it to New York and Pittsburgh without a glitch as the engine and transmission are both in super shape.
I installed a cheap aftermarket stereo that does not have a CD player in it. However, it has radio and USB/SD port and Aux In so you can plug in any source like tablet or phone.
The muffler is detached from the pipe. This happened only a couple of months ago and I never got it fixed. The air works but you have to charge it with a can only once every season. There must be a very tiny leak.
Last year i put in one 6.99 can of R134 and the air was cool all summer. I never put anything this year, because winter refuses to go away.
The car does not burn any oil and when i change the oil after 3, 000 miles, i see it at the same level as the last oil change. At 222, 000 miles, for this to happen, the car would have to be a Maxima.
I have a new battery installed in the last 6 months. Inspection is good until Oct, 2015. I am only selling it now because i am buying a newer car. I thought about keeping the car and getting the body fixed, but i don't have the time or inclination to
do too much work on cars now. I would like this car to go to a new owner who will take good care of it. I have disclosed everything that i know about this car, good and bad. If there is anything i missed, it will not be because i tried to hide it.
This would make a good work car. It probably runs better than any 1996 Maxima out there. Cosmetically, i am sure you can find small things wrong. There is a small cigarette burn on the drivers seat. But the
interior is pretty clean. Dash is good and there are no tears etc.
At 19 years old, this car is a Classic in the making. Anyone that knows Maximas, knows that these cars run forever. This one is the same as long as the body is taken care of and fixed.

2/1/2014 215, 600 17.00 Oil Filter, Oil change. Topped off all fluids. Coolant bottle was empty. Even Radiator was extremely low. Car was not overheating though.
2/17/2014 215, 700 196.00 Maf sensor was loose, Bob put on tight. Put on NEW Radiator. There was a radiator leak. Bought radiator Pep boys $116, Paid Bob $80.
3/16/2014 215, 800 28.00 Check engine light was on. Code 1320 misfire. I removed each one by one and found the #4 one was bad.
The sequence is 135 at the top (left to right) and 246 at the bottom. The #4 was front middle. Replaced coil $20 on eBay and Bosch Plug. Plug was fouled.
9/19/2014 218, 000 0.00 Battery Replaced brand new 9/14 manufacture. 24F 750 cca, the same one on it now.
