I put in the title that this was a one owner truck which technically is not true as the original owner gave it to his son who I purchased the truck from. The original owner used this truck to tow behind his RV and that is what the majority of the miles on the truck are from. He estimated that 75% of the miles are towed miles. The son was going to use it as an off road toy, but because he had quads and so many other off road toys, he really never used it and that's why he sold it. He did put a brand new set of all terrain tires on the truck, including the spare. I was fortunate enough to stumble across the truck while browsing Craigslist for Chico, CA. I had a trip planned to see my mom who lives about 30 minutes north of Chico as she had just had back surgery and I wanted to see how she was doing. I have had a few of these 720 4x4 trucks in the past and had really enjoyed them, so when I saw this one maybe I could buy it and then just drive the truck back home to Tucson (about a thousand mile drive). I called the owner and he reassured me that the truck would make the drive with no issues at all. So I wired some money to my mom and the owner drove the truck to her house and the deal was done. When I flew in that next week I was a little disappointed in the truck because it was filthy, but when I drove it I was very pleased with how it ran and drove and you could tell it was a low mile truck. I spent a few days there with my mom and began to clean the truck up and it cleaned up very nicely. It had an old vintage shell on it, which I still have on the side of my house and this could be included in the sale if the new owner is interested. I made the drive through Central California to Southern California and then on through the desert to Tucson and the truck performed flawlessly. It was triple digit heat nearly the whole drive and the truck ran perfect. When I got it home I continued to mainly do cleanup to the truck and I have been driving it on weekends around town, but it mainly sits in the garage now. It figures that just when I got the truck the way I wanted it, I need to sell it to free up some cash for an unexpected oral surgery that my daughter will need to have at the end of July. I will outline the truck in more detail below:
EXTERIOR: The truck is wearing all of it's original paint. The paint has some blemishes here and there and is certainly no trailer queen. The body is pretty straight except for the left front fender, left rear lower bed area and some dents on the top as well. The fender is the worst area, but all are fixable and I tried to take good pictures so you can see any and all damage on the truck. The original decals are still in good shape and overall the truck shows well for a 31 year old rig. The rims are the original rims but the original owner's son didn't like the factory white color so he painted them black. I would put them back to original white if I kept the truck. Tires basically just have the miles I put on it which is less than 2k miles and the tires cost over $1, 000 with the five tires and mounting/balancing. There is no rust on the truck or undercarriage. It was always in California and now Arizona so it is solid. Some of the seams on the bed have some surface rust where the paint had come off, but there is no scale or heavy rust anywhere on the truck. All lights work and lenses are clear and bright. One of the headlights gets moisture in it but it still works and I do have another original Kotto headlight that I will throw in with the sale of the truck. Overall the truck is clean but not perfect, but gets attention with the old vintage decals and it's just a cool old truck and fun to drive.
INTERIOR: The interior on the truck is all complete and original except for the aftermarket CD player installed in the truck by the original owner's son. The dash has one crack but has a nice cover over it. All gauges, lights, wipers, AC, heat, radio/CD work well. The only thing that doesn't work is the horn and I have not checked if that's a fuse or what. The original seat bottoms were getting worn so I put a nice set of covers on the seats and they are still very comfortable. The rear jump seats are in great shape. The original jack and tools are in place. All windows roll up and down with ease and doors open, close and lock as they should. The carpet is still in good shape but with some stains here and there. Non smoker truck always so no bad smells. The pictures should do the rest of the talking on the interior.
MECHANICAL: Here is the only mechanical issue with the truck. When you are running the AC and at an idle the idle will fluctuate 500 RPM's up and down while you are idling. It's not a big issue and it hasn't bothered me enough to even look at it, but I wanted to be up front about it. Otherwise the truck runs and drives great as you would expect a low mile truck to drive and this truck could easily be a daily driver vehicle and I would trust it to drive across country tomorrow. No leaks, funny noises or smoking. All 4WD components work as they should and the transmission and clutch are in great shape and smooth.
In summary, this is a rare truck and getting harder and harder to find. It's not going to win a car show, but any Datsun or Nissan fan would be proud to own and drive it. I love these trucks and hate to let it go and I hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it and not thrash it. My reserve is very reasonable as is the buy it now price, especially considering the new tires. I do reserve the right to end the auction early as I may be advertising the truck in other media and it could sell at any time. Due to the age of the truck it is sold as is with no warranties expressed or implied. I do require a $500 deposit due via Paypal within 24 hours of the auction end with the balance due within 7 days of the end of the auction. The truck can be stored indoors for a reasonable amount of time should you need time to arrange shipping. If you want to fly in and drive the truck home, if given enough notice, I should be able to pick you up at Tucson International Airport. Check the pictures and my feedback and bid with confidence! Good luck!!
