I believe I’m the 4th owner. This car was bought out
of West Virginia and it was transported to CO in February 2001. The
restoration on this car is very nice! It includes the original broadcast sheet and a TON of documentation that was provided me with the car. Everything from owners/shop manuals to pictures of the car from when it was purchased by the original owner. Truly one of those muscle cars that has it's journey tracked along the way of it's life.
The Previous owner was a retired engineer and this car was his
true love - and that shows! No expense was spared in the building of this
vehicle and I have 2 huge folders full of receipts from everything
that he did to this car (that will be included). In doing a very rough count I would speculate
that there is $30-40K in receipts in these files. This is money
outside the purchase of the car – just things he has done to it since getting
it to CO. I thought there was no better way to show how much love he put
into this vehicle than just post the description he provided me with the car
after I picked it up. I have only owned the 442 for about 3 months now
and while I thought I had found another forever muscle car that I would
hand down someday in this 442 is has just not played out that way.
This car is amazingly well sorted, and truly requires nothing for
a new owner. A recent change in my working situation and limited garage space
here in CO before the winter (which is supposed to be worse than most this year
due to El Nino) - is the only reason that I am selling this beauty. I know I
will regret doing so when it’s gone, probably forever, but I need to do what I
need to do for my current situation.
I would not hesitate to drive this car across country tomorrow. It starts up right away every time and simply runs like a top. Due to the
short gearing in the rear end it cruses amazing well on the highway at 70mph. You
will not be disappointed.
It has AC that has been converted to R134A and blows Cold! On
the other side the heater works great. All switches, lights, and gauges work as they are supposed to. If you have been looking for that perfect 442
that you can enjoy knowing it will never leave you stranded or disappointed and
will not break the bank you have just found it.
From Prev. Owner:
My first goal was to make the car reliable and safe so I began by
rebuilding the front and rear brakes , shocks front and rear, all rubber
including body mounts and seals, coil springs, and gas tank.
The engine, which is the original block, was rebuilt
and bored .030” when I got the car. Upon tearing down the engine, I found
that #7 cylinder had a little scratch on it so just to be safe (and get a touch
more power) I bored it to .060” which is more than acceptable for an Olds 455 (
.080 is typically the limit) because of the high nickel content which aids the
strength. The car had the wrong heads on it when I got it so I searched
out the correct “E” head and had the 3 angle valve grind done with all new
valve train. I replaced the original cam with a newer design that had the
same lift and duration characteristics of the 1970 W-30 automatic because I
wanted to maintain vacuum for brakes and vacuum controls. I replace the
distributor with an electronic ignition. The car came with the wrong carb
so I sourced out the correct 7040251 Rochester and it is on the vehicle. I replaced the old headers with jet coated new ones. I did not have the car dynoed
but the shop that built it speculates that it is probably putting out about
400hp at the crank.
The interior has been replaced with original reproductions -
carpeting, seats, headliner, door panels. I sourced out a new dash to
replace the original which had a very small crack in it. 99% of the world
would probably have never even noticed it but I wanted this done right.
The transmission that shipped with the car was a Turbo 350
which is incorrect. I sourced a correct case for the TH 400 and had it
rebuilt and had a shift kit and a 2500 stall converter installed. Changing from
the incorrect 350 back to the 400 required a new driveshaft. Since the
car has only about 1200 miles on it since the engine/transmission, I have the
transmission set to shift at 3500 rpm so I haven’t Hot rodded it at all. I have manually shifted it to 4500 rpm max and car was still pulling but that
was my limit. The differential is a numbers matching, 12 bolt, 3.23 posi.
The electrical wiring has been replaced with reproduction specific
to the car and is 100% reliable.
The original GM air-conditioning compressor has
been rebuilt and blows cold with R-134A. Also a new A/C
condenser/radiator was installed at the same time.
A reproduction radio was installed. The
antenna is installed in the replaced windshield which is correct for the car
but doesn’t provide great reception. Typically I would use my phone and
the MP3 connection to play my music anyhow. The single unit front speaker
is a reproduction of the 2 speaker (L and R) original design which didn’t
provide very good audio response but is correct. The two rear speakers
were replaced with reproductions and sound great.
The odometer shows a little over 63, 000 but was
replaced by the previous owner so I do not know an exact mileage. The
body is straight and true and the car is just very sorted.
Enjoy - I will miss it!

If you have read down this far hopefully you
have realized that this thing is not only the real deal but a very very nice
car. I am selling it at no reserve and whoever gets this vehicle will be
100% satisfied. Check my feedback rating. I have bought/sold several Big Ticket items on eBay and have tried to
portray this car to the best of my ability. The car is listed locally as well
so I reserve the right to pull the listing at any time. If you are really
interested shoot me a line and I will gladly discuss the vehicle with you. I have included a lot of images here so you can be sure you see what you
are getting and can send you a walk around video so you can
see/hear the vehicle running. Just shoot me a pm with your email or a number I
can text it to.
Also included is a color matching car cover and
even 2 matching camp chairs so that you look as good as you possibly can when
showing off this gem at your local cruise night or car show.
Thanks for reading this novel and Cheers! Someone is really going to be getting something great here. .. Please
contact me with any questions.

“442 Holiday Coupe - Gorgeous, well sorted 1970 Olds 442, that will be sure to be the envy of your local car shows, cruise nights, or simply just your friends. This car was built to be driven and is hands down the best driving and "tight" 70's muscle car that I have ever driven. While it shows a few VERY SMALL defects such as rock chips this car is stunning from all angles and really must be picked apart to find any imperfections. Everything works as it should and it really is a joy to drive! No disappointments here!” |
