1970 Olds 442 Convertible
Owning a piece of American Muscle Car History would be a dream come true for most. As these beautiful and perfectly proportioned heavy-weights become more rare every day, its refreshing to find one which has been treated like a lady, loved and brought back up to snuff to correct specifications in all the detail both under the hood and behind the wheel. This beautiful 1970 numbers matching 442 looks and runs every bit the part and wears its W-30 upgrades with dignity. From the fully operational OAI to the X-Pipe Exhaust to the correct trumpeted exhaust tips, she runs and sounds like a dream.
Equipped with the Rally Pak instrument gauges, original AM/FM Flip Face Stereo - correctly connected to its front and rear speakers - and a desirable tilt steering wheel, your new classic will give you the feel of the original smooth power and heft not found in today's average ride. Every one of the accessories is in excellent working order - even down to the light bulbs where every one (including instruments!) has been replaced.
This King of muscle cars features sport steering wheel, TH400 with Hurst dual gate shifter, bucket seats and console, rally pack gauges, raised letter Goodrich T/R tires on original wheels, matching spare tire, 12-bolt Posi-Traction differential - restored over the course of 6 years - most recently completing mechanical under the hood to original spec. It is powered by the Big Block 455 engine (highest horsepower) W-25 OAI (Outside Air Intake) hood, power steering, power front disc brakes, special heavy-duty suspension, front and rear sway bars, boxed lower rear control arms, along with side and trunk stripes.
Its Olds Rocket 455 V8 Engine is wearing brand new manifolds - original Oldsmobile exhaust & intake manifolds under a Rochester Quadrajet. The new exhaust system boasts a beautiful tone thanks to the X-pipe centered between downpipes and dual MagnaFlow mufflers. With new mechanical fan and fan-clutch, the brand new 4-row radiator was not always found cooling these behemoth engines as they were known to run hot - however this engine runs at a comfortable 190-195 degF and does not succumb to hot weather. As for the fully operational OAI - fed from outside cold air or the warm exhaust manifold shroud through a heat riser pipe - it is not just window dressing. The W-30 package comprised the OAI - which boosted the output to a robust 370 HP - and also included the high ratio rear 12-bolt Posi-Traction differential, boxed frame braces as reinforcement to the rear end, and red fiberglass fender wells to lighten up the front end. All of the correct badging etc. dresses this vehicle to say... OMG its a W-30 ! And without being born a W-30, it still shows all the finesse and heart of one.
Just have a look at some of the other beauties that have been crossing the finish line at reputable auction companies who have refreshed our desire for this American Classic...

Note to buyer... I have cherished my car in the time it's been in my care as I've found myself the center of attention at many venues. Although the odometer shows 61188, it is believed to have gone around the clock once as reflected in the title before the restoration. Also note that restoration has been completed within the past 2000 miles and while driven around town, it has been freshly serviced. This vehicle will no doubt become a family heirloom to the next proud owner as the value of muscle all genuine cars continues to march north.
