Oldsmobile Aurora (2001)

For sale is a 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora with the 4.0L (L47) V8 engine. I'm also offering the car locally on the St. Louis Craigslist, but I decided to see if anyone outside of Missouri would be interested by offering here. To be honest I never sold anything on eBay before (evident by my low score. I've bought a couple things though), so it's more complicated to me compared to Craigslist (sorry if I didn't set this up as good as I could've.)
Anyway, the car itself is not bad. Personally I consider it one of the better sport/luxury sedans out there, and enjoyed owning it but I just wanna get something else now. But it's a true 5-seater with plenty of rear-seat legroom, even if the driver is 6 feet tall. It's not Lincoln Town Car roomy, but it's better than a Cobalt or Civic. Trunk space is more than enough for shopping and storing essential tools and stuff. Overall, perfect for a single person to drive from point A to B, and pick up some friends or go to the store in the process.
Other noteworthy things to mention include the fact that this car has cupholders front and back (and a little storage in the rear armrest), the engine has about 250hp and about the same amount of torque, the car is FWD so it does pretty good in snow compared to a RWD car, most of the interior lights and the license plate lights have been converted to cool white (6000K) LED... except the rear door lights, and the car has aftermarket window tint. In terms of the window tint, I bought the car used and wish I knew where it got tinted so I know where not to go, because the tint is not well-made/applied.
Also the exterior rear-view mirror on the passenger door is a white replacement I found in a junkyard because I had an accident with the original one. Don't worry, it works perfectly and the only thing wrong with it (other than being white on a gold body) is the shell is damaged (found it like that and tried to make sure it didn't come apart by putting glue on it). The drivers mirror on the other hand, while is original, doesn't seem to work for some reason. The heater thing in the glass works, but it can't move normally using the power controls.
Uh... let's see, again the car was bought used a couple years ago with 160k miles, and when I got the car there were more issues on it than a car at your typical used dealership (ironic considering I bought the car from a private car dealer). Most of those issues were repaired at some point (in fact I had to spend around $1500 right away because it had a misfire!), but there are still some less-important issues left including the air suspension compressor being completely useless (the hoses were dry-rotted and the whole thing was so rusty the studs broke taking it off... which means it's not even on the car now). And something you need to fix if you plan on driving people that will sit in the back: the left rear (seat behind the driver) 3-point seatbelt will need a new retractor because the current one is pretty worn out. Otherwise, if only one person needs to sit in back, you can have him/her sit on the right side because that seatbelt works fine.
Also there's the thing about the rear windows, which don't open whatsoever. My guess would be the right-rear window needs a regulator, and the other needs a motor and maybe a regulator too. And weirdly enough the car didn't come with the original spare tire stuff. Instead it was replaced with a 90's Oldsmobile 88 wheel (which I don't recommend using, replace it with an actual spare tire! I've had to use that twice and the wheel seems to rub the brake caliper a little) and the tools were taken too. Don't ask, I wish I knew why too lol.
And also the floor mats and rear-view mirror were either removed or lost, and so the rear view mirror was replaced with a generic one. If you wanna get the factory mirror, you need to look for the one that doesn't have OnStar on it because the connector (barely hidden in the headliner near the windshield) won't fit. Get the one with just the compass and auto-dimmer sensor.
Oh, and for those that plan on parking this in a driveway, the whole Northstar V8 family (which the L47 is a member of) is known to leak oil. Not entirely sure why, but I'm told it's because of the way it's designed. It doesn't leak that much though, about a quart every week or so. But that's enough for my car to have been banned to the street, and I'm sure there are others that are the same way. So just thought I'd let you know now before you come pick the car up and see the oil under the car and think there's something wrong with the engine. There's nothing wrong with the engine... technically... that's just the way Northstar engine are...
I have a decent sized file folder full of repair papers/receipts, and I do have the title in case you're curious about legal stuff like that. And while we're talking legal stuff, this car is being sold as-is, though I fixed a lot of stuff and doubt anything would happen. But if anything were to happen (since the car does have 180K miles), I am not responsible for any inconveniences.
If interested, go ahead and bid on the car. Keep in mind though you're responsible for transport if you're far away. I will not provide a trailer nor send you the car in any way, you must come/send someone to me if you want this car. If you bid, you must use Paypal or cash if you win. And please don't give me low-ball offers, I'm not looking to give you a deal here. Just because the car has high-miles and isn't perfect doesn't mean you can buy it for junker prices. I don't have to sell this car, I just want to.

“Car is in decent shape, good for a daily driver. Mechanically, it passes both safety and emissions inspections fine. Physical condition, it's not perfect but better than many used cars. Suspension, A/C, heated seats, and rear windows need work, otherwise the car is great for anything including a road trip!” |
