Description:

I want to cover all the questions I would have if I were looking at this car and usually don't ever see in online car sales. This is a really clean g-body Cutlass. The speedometer cluster was replaced so this is a true mileage unknown vehicle. There are a few tiny spots of rust the size of an eraserhead and a few small dings and creases that you see when you look at the car up close. No rust on the normal failure points (fenders, bumpers, wheelwells). Original paint job weathered in spots but not bad. The underside of the car looks amazing. The floor panels look good as new. Normal surface rust on the frame, driveshaft, etc., gas tank looks really good, and the exhaust has been replaced at some point and looks real good. Didn't drive it in the rain or snow. Tires in good shape.
This is the base model with what appears to be a solid mechanically Buick 3.8L V6. It sounds good and no smoke from the tailpipe after the white puff when cold started. The GM motors of this era usually had an oil seep around the rear main seal and this car has that. It also has a seep around one of the valve cover gaskets, so you get a couple drops that burn off on the exhaust manifold while the car is warming up and it goes away when the gaskets swell up. Never enough to show in the dipstick and never had to add oil. Transmission shifts good. I had it pulled to replace TCC lockup solenoid and had a new torque converter put in at the same time, so the final shift where the tranny and engine are in 1:1 works perfectly. The technician said the tranny was in midlife based on band wear. I ended up with an extra reman torque converter in the deal and will provide that with the sale. The speedometer cable has been noisy since I've had the car.
I have done all the tuneup stuff on the car. Fuel pump, Plugs, wires, coil, cap, and all new vacuum lines, O2 sensor, MAF sensor, TPS, MCS. I put a factory remanufactured stock Rochester Dualjet electronic carb on it. Works well and no check engine light.
Coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, rear differential fluid all changed since I've had the car. Did an oil change a couple weeks ago.
The A/C was taken out of the car at some point in its life, probably to drop weight. I have a complete AC system for it but never was able to find the right mounting hardware (spacers, bolts, etc.). I'll include that with the sale. Smog pump seized up so I disconnected it. Replaced vacuum control switch in HVAC controls and heater control valve under the hood. The heat works perfectly.
The interior is pretty clean for a car this old that hasn't been touched. There are a couple minor carpet stains and a rub spot but not bad overall for a GM car of the era. No cracks in any of the cheap GM dashboard assembly of that time. The steering wheels on the cars typically had cracks in them but this steering wheel is perfect. The headliners in these sagged, so this one has a brand new headliner in it as well as new sun visors. The door open and headlights on chime works and the cigarette lighter works.
I'll respond quickly to inquiries and provide more pictures on request.
