Oldsmobile Cutlass (1973)
for sale

Price: US $5,000.00

Description:

For sale is my rare 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4D Sedan with only 5, 200 original miles. Yes, that's not a misprint. Car is in excellent original condition with amazing red/black color combination. This is the only year the Cutlass did not have a large, energy absorbing rear bumper, and the first year of the revised styling. You see many coupes around, but very few sedans and, in my opinion, the sedans are the most attractively styled of the lineup.
Though not highly equipped, this Cutlass does come with working air conditioning as well as the 350 Rocket V8 with a Quadrajet 4bbl carburetor. Engine runs beautifully with no blow by coming out the breather pipe (see video below). Starts right up, is peppy to drive, accelerates effortlessly, and idles smoothly.
Interior is made of handsome black vinyl and in excellent condition. Dash and steering wheel have no cracks. Brake pedal has nearly no wear nor do original floormats. Carpets are clean and tidy. All interior/exterior lights work and function correctly. Even the annoying key in ignition buzzer and Fasten Seat Belt buzzer (goes off if you put car in drive without being belted; annoying!) work as they did when new. Steering is super tight with no slop at all. Brakes work perfectly. Dual note horn works. Wipers work. Original AM radio works. Windows roll up/down with minimal effort on the crank. Appears original spare tire has never been on ground. Trunk is in excellent shape with zero evidence of moisture. Vinyl top is also in excellent condition with only a few minor imperfections from age.
I'm not a body man, but I cannot find evidence of bondo anywhere. A refrigerator magnet adheres to all sheet metal behind all front/back wheels, and you can still see the factory pinch welds behind the rear wheels and on the rocker moldings. Paint has very nice reflectivity, and chrome is generally good with some minor age-induced imperfections/pitting. Car still has original radiator with tag. Minimal road grime in engine bay.
During my ownership, I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor, contact points and condenser, and taken the carburetor apart to clean it so that the car idles and drives like new. I've set the point dwell and ignition timing at stock values. Car also has a fresh oil change and green glycol coolant. The car starts and runs amazingly well and is surprisingly peppy and very quiet. Idles ultra smooth and cruises effortlessly on the highway at 75+ mph. Recently driven on 100 mile trip and performed flawlessly. Tires are relatively new. Even has some original paperwork with it, including a letter from Oldsmobile and the pre-purchase inspection sheet.
While this is an excellent, original condition car, please don't expect perfection. It is not a trailer queen, just a nice, old car. There are a few minor dents/dings/paint chips from storage over the years and driving the car, but they are minor. The car shows just as well up close as it does from far away, arguably better. I myself would feel comfortable driving the car almost anywhere, but remember, it is 43 years old and if you elect to do so, you're taking a risk. No warranty is expressed or implied and car is sold as-is.
I have a detailed video of the car exterior as well as the engine running. Please email me and I'll send the link.
