Selling this nice looking & very nicely loaded 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible with the 442 appearance & handling package. I've owned this car for about 4 years or so & the previous owner had it for about 25 years or so before me. He bought it in the mid 80's with the intention parting it out as it had so many nice options. Instead he installed NOS fenders, quarters, & bumpers & repainted it in the factory color & had a new top installed. Unlike a lot of cars that you see today that have had many options added to them, this one came equipped from the factory with all that you see in the pictures except for the engine & transmission. The car was born with a 350 4 bbl if I remember right but a '72 455 engine from a 442 was installed long ago. It has all the correct parts for a 455 in a Cutlass such as the notched valve covers & W & Z exhaust manifolds. Some of the other options in this car include black manual bucket seats, Hurst dual gate shifter & console, air conditioning, sport steering wheel, power windows, power locks, power trunk, tilt steering, cruise control, rally pack, power disc brakes, posi track rear end, AM-FM Stereo radio with 8 track player, & front seat shoulder belts. Someone added the 442 emblem on the glove box which is technically not correct.
The car has been stored indoors since being painted many years ago. The laquer Matador red paint stills shows pretty well but does show some minor scratches & light dings here & there. With a little buffing & polishing it could be made to really shine. Since the car had NOS fenders & quarters installed, of course there is pretty much no rust on the car & the under body shows well also. The car starts easily & shifts, drives, & stops like it should. I'm sure a tune up would make it run even better. The top goes up & down with the push of the button & there are no rips or tears. All the glass is in good condition with no cracks or damage. The AC does not work, I assume it needs charged but have never bothered with it as the top is down about any time I drove it anyway. All the components are there. The power windows & locks work well except for the passenger side rear window, it is a bit slow. The cruise does not work either & I've never looked into that either but all the parts are there for it. The rally pack gauges work like they should but the tachometer does not work. The radio comes on & the stereo light goes on & off as you scan across the stations but no sound is heard. I assume it is the speakers but have not tested them. The seats & interior panels all look good on first glance but do show some minor wear here & there as any 43 year original but nicely maintained parts would be expected to look. I added some original front & rear floor mats but do not if they came in the car originally or not. Over all this is a good running, good looking, complete car that was partially restored many years ago. All the components show pretty well but it is not a show car. Inspections in person are highly recommended & welcomed. I'm not sure what the actual mileage is but I suspect from clues on the car that it was relatively low when my friend bought it. The hood louvers look to be very nice as do the headlight bezels. Usually these areas show wear quickly & the louvers tend to become pitted easily. I have driven the car to Michigan from Indianapolis a couple years ago with no problems & it has never left me stranded. I have 5 kids, a wife, & am self employed so time to enjoy the car does not come along often. I'm hoping someone can drive & enjoy it the way it is & get many smiles per gallon or it is a great candidate for a full restoration. I can provide documentation from the previous owner, who is very well known in the Oldsmobile community, about the authenticity of this Cutlass 442. Message me or call Scott at any reasonable hour at 317-727-7041 with any questions or to set up an appointment to see it A down payment is expected within 2 days of the end of the auction & payment in full is required before the car & title will be released. A cash payment is preferred or a verified cashiers' check that will be verified clear by my bank will be the only payment methods.
