Up for sale is my 1961 Oldsmobile Super 88. I have owned
this car for just over 5 years and have enjoyed every minute of it. It has the
394 skyrocket engine in it with the 4 bbl carb making 325 hp! When I bought the
car it was a beige color, inside and out. I had the car painted with a black
base and an arctic ice pearl mid-coat before the clear, it is a gorgeous color.
I had the top done in blizzard pearl. When the car is not in the sun it just
looks black but as soon as the sun hits it the arctic ice pearl just shimmers.
The paint looks really nice and while it isn’t full show quality it is a great
driver/weekend show quality job. I spent just over $4000 just on the paint job. I
also had the interior on the car done, I had it done in a black and white theme so
it would go with the outside of the car, it turned out gorgeous! I get tons of compliments on the interior colors and scheme. Everything in
the interior was redone with the exception of the headliner and visors; the
headliner is still in perfect shape and is white so it goes with the theme as
well. The visors need redone, they are out right now and I just haven’t got
around to redoing them. I put brand new brakes and wheel cylinders on the car
as well while I was rebuilding it. The car sits on 22” chrome wheels with brand
new tires, I do have the factory wheels and 4 hubcaps if that is more your
style. I had often thought of using the factory wheels with some wide white
wall tires but I get a lot of compliments on the car the way it is set up. The trunk
has been done in a gray trunk lining and looks pretty good, better than just a
bare trunk. The chrome trim that is on the car is in great shape and has been
polished, two of the pieces probably should be pulled off and reworked I just
never have after I assembled it. The 2 pieces are the trim over the windshield
and the trim on the trunk, see the pics. There are also 2 dings in the front bumper, and somewhere in this cars life the “super”
emblem that goes above the 88 on the trunk was taken or misplaced. I have
searched high and low and have yet to come up with one but I am sure one will
turn up somewhere. Also the S on the front trim emblem is missing as well on just the passenger side. The wiper motor quit on me this summer so it will need
replaced if you think you will use the wipers, I just drive it in nice weather
and keep it garaged all winter so it wasn’t a huge deal. All the lights and the
gauges work in the car including the color changing mercury speedometer that
was pretty unique on these cars. I haven’t done anything with the motor and
trans, they run good and I haven’t needed to do any work to them. I did have
the carb completely rebuilt when I got the car. The motor drips a little bit of
oil but it looks like a new oil pan gasket would probably take care of it. The car
runs well and looks very good doing it, with the factory wheels on it is
actually a pretty quick car, the big chrome 22’s weigh it down and make it not
as fast so I guess it will depend on what you are going for. I get a lot of
compliments on this car, and you won’t see very many like it. Email me or call
or text 208-589-9783 with any questions. Thanks John THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION, HIGH BIDDER GETS THE CAR!
