1958 Oldsmobile 88 4 door sedan. Car was first sold at Murphy Oldmobile in L.A. CA. Was later in life driven to IA where it currently resides. Been stored primarily in shed for many years. This car is extremely solid and original, especially for its age. Low miles. It's a great car with plenty of potential however, I need the indoor parking space. So unfortunately for me it should go.
Body is overall very straight. There are dings scratches chips and a spot on driver door and drivers fender that has a small dent, with some primer on it. Otherwise all Original paint! Was a nice shade of torquise green but, age and light surface rust are showing. Maybe just touch it up and buff it all out? Floors are solid, even the trunk spare tire well, chassis looks great too. Doors all open shut and alighn nicely. Aside from 1 or 2 pieces?, all the trim is there and intact. Bumpers and grill are overall very straight.
Original 371 engine starts up and runs well (It does have newer electric fuel pump and fuel cell tank), engine does not seem to leak anything. Transmission goes readily into gear, brakes stop quite well. I have driven up and down my road, seems to drive good, especially for a Car that's 57 years old. Steers well too. Will need exhaust work. This car should be gone through by your mechanic before any long trips or daily use as any old car should to be safe.
Interior is original but, probably should be redone. Seat cover over original front seat that needs reupholstered. Dash is very nice and original. Uncut or tampered with. This is a radio delete car, unusual. Clock (or blanking plate) is missing. I have a NOS rear back up lense which will be included.
This car is unrestored and will require some levels of restoration work.
