HELLO OLDSMOBILE LOVERS,
YOUR LOOKING AT A BEAUTIFUL PRESERVED 58 OLDS 88 SEDAN WITH 79, 550 ORIGINAL MILES. THIS CAR IS A ORIGINAL 58 OLDS, STILL WITH 85% ORIGINAL PAINT AND INTERIOR. THE CAR STARTS GOOD AND RUNS GOOD AFTER 33 YEARS OF STORAGE, SITTING INSIDE IN NORTH DAKOTA. THE CAR HAS A NICE HISTORY TRAIL OF OWNERSHIP WITH YEARLY DMV REGISTRATION CARDS AND WAS PURCHASED AT THE DEALERSHIP OF: (DEALER NAME-PLATE STILL ON TRUNK) CHRISTIANSON CADILLAC - OLDSMOBILE, LOCATED IN VALLEY CITY, NORTH DAKOTA ON MARCH 5th, 1958, AS PER WARANTY CARD FROM DELCO.
( I AM SELLING THIS CLASSIC OLDS FOR A LOCAL FRIEND HERE IN COLORADO, I do know the car inside and out, Title Good & Clear ).
THE CAR WAS OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNERS UNTIL 1977, THEN SOLD TO THE SECOND OWNERS UNTIL 1980 AND THEN RESOLD TO THE THIRD OWNER IN 1981 -1982 UNTIL PUT AWAY IN 1982 INTO STORAGE UNTIL 2015. THE REASON THE CAR WAS PUT AWAY WAS IT HAD A TREE BRANCH FALL ON THE ROOF CAUSING A DENT AND THE NEW OWNER DID NOT WANT IT TO SIT AND COULD NOT REPAIR THE CAR AT THE TIME. THUS THE STORY, IT SAT AND SAT AND SAT... THE CAR WAS FINALLY BROUGHT OUT AND CLEANED UP IN THE JAMS AND BUFFING OF THE PAINT, ALSO REDOING SOME VERY MINOR DINGS AND SMALL SURFACE ISSUES. THE CAR IS OVERALL VERY SOILD AND HAS HAD SOME BODY WORK DONE TO THE ROCKERS AS THE OLD OWNER BOTTOMED OUT AND SCRAPED THE ROCKERS. MAIN UNDERSIDE LOOKS GOOD, NO DAMAGE OR LEAKS.
NEW MECHANICAL ITEMS: REBUILT & RESTORED THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND RESERVIOR @ $250, THIS IS AS FAR AS IT GOT- JULY-2015, AND THE BRAKE SHOES AND WHEEL CYLINDERS WILL NEED REDONE TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. NO BRAKES YET, BUT THE HARD PART IS DONE WITH THE MASTER ON THE LOWER FIREWALL.
371 V8 ENGINE IS NICE, TUNE UP NEW PLUGS, OIL AND FULIDS, FILTERS. NOTE: AUTOMATIC TRANNY FULID WAS CHANGED AT 79, 450 PER OLD PAPERWORK JUST BEFORE STORAGE AND IS STILL CLEAN. CAR TRANNY ENGAUGES IN FORWARD & REVERSE WITH NO NOISES, BUT WITH NO BRAKES WE CANT TEST DRIVE, BUT IT SHOULD BE FINE. ENGINE STARTS AND IDELS GOOD, NO SMOKING AFTER WARM-UP SO FAR AND NO LEAKS! THIS WAS BROKEN BACK IN CORRECTLY WITH MIRACLE MYSTERY OIL IN EACH CYLINDER AND THEN TURNED BY HAND, TO RE-LUBE CYLINDERS BEFORE ACTUAL START-UP! POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES!
ALL WINDOWS ARE GOOD AND ALL OPERATE INCLUDING VENT WINDOWS, AND ALL HAVE BEEN LUBED. NOTE: REAR DOOR, DRIVERS & PASSENGER SIDE FLAT GLASS, BOTH HAVE A CRACK. FRONT WINDSHIELD IS GOOD, GOOD SEAL, BUT HAS ONE ROCK CHIP BEE-BEE AND ONLY NORMAL SMALLER ROCK WIPER RASH. DOORS OPPERATE OPEN AND CLOSE GREAT, CEPT FOR THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR NEEDS ADJUSTED STILL AS IT IS HARDER TO OPEN AND CLOSE AT THE LATCH CATCH.
FRONT DOORS USE ORIGINAL KEYS IN DOOR LOCKS WITH ORIGINAL GM KEYS WITH CODES STILL ON THEM. ELECTRICAL, ALL LIGHTS WORK, DOME, DASH, BLINKERS, HIGH BEAMS, LOW BEAMS, . RADIO WORKS LOUD! HEATER FAN NOT WORKING YET, FUSE? DOOR UPPER WEATHERSTRIP IS VERY GOOD AROUND UPPER WINDOWS WHICH IS GREAT, AS THAT IS HARD TO GET. AROUND THE LOWER DOORS SOME WEATHERSTRIP IS MISSING, BUT WHAT IS THERE IS GOOD. FUZZIES IN WINDOWS ARE GOOD, NO RATTLES. DOOR LOCKS AND INTERIOR PULL LOCKS ALL OPPERATE GREAT. TRUNK KEY WORKS GREAT, TRUNK HAS NEW WEATHERSTRIPING, NICE ORIGINAL JACK AND HAS A SPARE FLAT TIRE. TRUNK LOWER DRIP RAIL WILL NEED SOME SMALL LOWER TRAY REPAIR IF WANTED, I WILL PROVIDE THE METAL RAIL FROM A DIFFERENT CAR, IF YOU SO DESIRE TO REPAIR THE 8 INCH LOWER SECTIONS. UPPER DRIP RAILS ARE GREAT AND RUST FREE AND CLEAN.
MAIN FLOORS, TRUNK FLOOR, ARE ALL VERY GOOD, SOME SMALL HOLES DUE TO ISOLATED WATER POCKETS WERE REPAIRED WITH FIBER FILL AND ONE METAL 6 INCH PATCH, BUT 95% OF ALL THE FLOORS ARE SOLID (SEE PICTURES!) AND HAVE BEEN SERFACE RUST PRIMER SEALED AND WIRE BRUSHED CLEANED BEFORE PAINTING.
ALL DOOR JAMS WERE DETAILED AND CLEANED PARTIALY PAINTED AS NEEDED.
THE INTERIOR IS ALL ORIGINAL AND NEEDS REDONE, OR USE AS A RAT ROD NOW ITS FINE FOR EVERYDAY AND SEATS HAVE GOOD SUPPORT STILL.
THE SIDE DOOR PANELS ARE SHABBY AT THE BOTTOMS, AS SHOWN, BUT THE METAL DOORS ARE CLEAN AND THE SEEMS ARE TIGHT AND RUST FREE.
NEEDS HEADLINER, THE ORIGINAL BARS ARE IN THE TRUNK IF NEEDED FOR A CARDBOARD ORIGINAL HEADLINER, OR YOU CAN DO THE NORMAL CLOTH HEADLINER, BUT YOU WILL NEED THE RODS FOR THAT OPTION, BUT THE SIDE ROOF HOLES ARE THERE FOR EITHER OR.
NEEDS CARPET AND FLOOR PAD BUT ALL READY AND CLEAN TO NOW INSTALL.
THE CARS CHROME AND POT METAL EXTERIOR IS IN GREAT SHAPE ESPECIALLY THE VERY EXSPENSIVE SOLID POT METAL WINDOW FRAMES AND VENT WINDOWS ARE BEAUTIFUL LIKE NEW! THE BUMPERS ARE VERY GOOD BUT THEY HAVE A DING ONE IN FRONT DRIVERS LOWER AND THE REAR HAS A DIMPLE IN CENTER AND OUTER CURVE.
THE OVERALL BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT AND ORIGINAL AND ONLY SOME SMALL DINGS WERE BLENDED IN WITH A CLOSE MATCH PAINT ON THE NOSE, THE LOWER FRONT FENDERS AND ROCKERS AND SIDE DOOR ROCKET BAFFLES. THE REST OF THE BANFF BLUE PAINT IS ALL ORIGINAL AND THE ONLY REAL BODYWORK LEFT IS THE TOP OF THE CARS ROOF, MARINA BLUE FROM THE TREE BRANCH DENTS, OF WHICH THERE ARE SEVERAL, BUT EASY TO GET AT AND FIX NOW AS THE HEADLINER IS OUT AT THE TIME TO ACCESS THE METAL.
TIRES ARE GOOD TREAD, BUT HAVE DRY CRACKING SIDEWALLS, SO NO LONG DRIVING ONLY FOR SLOW LOCAL, OR MOVING DRIVING. STEEL WHEELS ARE PAINTED INSIDE THE HUB CAPS AS SHOWN.
OVERALL A HONEST GREAT '58 OLDS READY TO PICK UP AT A LOWER PRICE, ( ESPECIALLY FOR THE STRAIGHT BODY AND MAINLY THE RUST FREE OVERALL CONDITION AND ORIGINAL QUALITY) THAT CAN BE QUICKLY REPAINTED AND OR UPGRADED FOR NOT VERY MUCH $ AS ALL THE CLEAN UP AND DETAIL WORK IS MOSTLY BEEN DONE. NICE ORIGINAL PATINA CAR WITH TOUCH-UP'S BUT THEY ONLY COME ORIGINAL ONCE.
