I have a 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette van that I am selling as a junker. The car is not really a junker, but I don't want to put any money into it since I don't need it anymore. The car originally cost $37, 000 and is the top of the line fully loaded version of this model. The body is in good shape and it has relatively new tires, new shocks, new front windshield (a basketball pole blew down on the old one). The van has leather seats, pull-down TV screen and VHS player, chrome wheels ...
Now the bad: The Van overheats; I believe because of a blown head gasket. Other than that, it still drove fine till last November, after which I got a new car and did not drive this one again. Over the winter The emergency brake on the left rear wheel must have frozen up (or so I diagnosed it) and the left rear wheel does not turn going forward but only in reverse. I had a new air conditioning unit put in 2 or 3 years ago, but the A/C does not work again because of a leak in one of the pipes that runs along the bottom of the car. The pipe needs to be spliced with a special tool, but I had decided not to bother with it.
This is why I am selling it as a junker. If you are handy you can still make it drivable, and I personally used to love driving this thing on highways. On local roads it's ok, but like any van it is not as nimble in local driving as a smaller car. The car has about 180, 000 miles on it.
