Description:

The Miller Special is a dirt track & road race car built in 1937.
The circulation document, ownership document and A.S.I. (Italian
certification of identity) report as a Miller, open, two place race car
built in 1937.
Approved and certificated from A.S.I. by a team of expert by many hours exam.
Aluminum body. 4 cylinders Ford engine with OHV Miller Head. 140 Hp. 200 c.i. 2 Stromberg carburators. 3 speed. 2 seaters. Regular for road driving as two places open race roadster. Restored - perfect running condition. A.S.I. identity certificate and gold plate. It has raced and showed many events...
I've bought the car in England 12 years ago.
I've pictures and info from previous owner and from American oval racer experts.
From previous owner also I've got signed books, old pictures and 40's/50's
race programs.
It originally had a four cylinders FORD B with OHV Miller high speed head as now (140 hp).
The second engine was a DOHC Miller-Offenhauser; there is still a plate on
the firewall about that engine...
This car was raced in many dirt tracks in Pennsylvania and Ohio in the 30's,
40's and 50's with these powerplants.
It was usually drived from Mark Light from Lebanon Pennsylvania;
a famous dirt track and oval race driver from the '30 to '50.
I've two books that write about him.
Later in the 50's, at the end of its Sprint & Dirt Track career it was
modificated to road race widening the cockpit, adding headlights and 3 speed
transmission.
More later in the 70's the engine/transmission was changed with an Alfa
Romeo DOHC. I have a lot of colour pictures of that years...
The actual engine is the first engine on that car: a Ford B block with an
Harry Miller High Speed Head, over head valve, two Stromberg carburators and
3 speed manual transmission.
Harry Miller dominated the race track and Indy 500 for about twenty years
and his cars and engines are very desiderable...
The complete engine and trasmission is pratically new. Also I've redone the
brakes, electrical system, wire wheels and tires
(I have 4 wheels of 15” for dirt track and 4 of 18” for road race)
Exhaust system, seats leather ecc.
However, the pictures speak better than words...
The car is totally restored starting from original parts.
Of course, there are some modern parts as: oil filter, generator,
electrical fuel pump, electrical cooling fan and other parts that permit to drive it on
the normal road.
I have hundreds of pictures about restore work and the most part of
material and info about.
The car is totally regular for road drive; it's
registered and it has Italian/EU new license plates.
The value is near 200.000 usd but I need to sell in a week, so
for this week the starting with NO RESERVE price is 99.000 usd.
Thank you for your attention.
