VERY NICE 1973 AMX with a fresh 360 4 speed. This is an excellent driver and commands a lot of attention at car shows. I've owned the car for around eight years and put on less than 1000 miles. It was purchased from a gentlemen in Ohio and was driven to Missouri. The previous owner did the restoration on the body and the paint and put in a storage facility for a few years where It was picked up. The engine ran great but looked old and had some leaks, so I took the engine out. One thing lead to another and the engine and heads were completely gone through. The engine, however is still a standard bore engine. At the same time, I cleaned up the engine bay, put in a new clutch and pressure plate, and everything new on the engine. The carb was changed to an Edelbrock but I still have the original Holley. The x-owner had not touched the interior which was in decent shape, but I decided to put on new seat covers and install new carpet. The x-owner also had original bias ply tires (for car shows, I guess) but I forgot how bad those tires were to drive, so I changed to a set of new radials and made it a sweet road car. I had trouble with the gauges so the dash circuit board was replaced as well as the engine wiring harness. If you noticed it has a factory 8-track that works. The cars dash panel was changed to an A/C unit. At the time I was going to convert to factory air or Vintage Air and use existing ducts. That did not happen but liked the looks of the A/C dash in the AMX better. New owner can add A/C, leave as is, or change back to non-a/c dash (I should have original). Car has been taken care of for quite a few years by me and previous owners. This is a true survivor that is a great runner and has an awesome look.
This is a fun low mileage car to drive. Also, has the old style back louvered window which is rare on an AMC. There is no rust or even surface rust on the car other than the exhaust. This car is not a loud and has stock style mufflers. One muffler has a slight separation that I caught changing the oil this month. It does not affect the sound. If new owner wants a deeper sounding or loud mufflers, have at it. My loud muffler days were gone a long time ago. For me, it has a nice sound. I can hold the car for a month in my garage and will be covered as always. I have not washed the car for over eight years since it does not and will not go out in bad weather. Did get wet coming back from Ohio, though. I would estimate the paint on the car to be around 12 years old and still looks good. Will be willing to show if you're in my area. Please email if you have any questions.
I will cancel any zero feedback bidders; life is too short. Winning bidder's responsibility to verify condition with sale as final acceptance. $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction end with balance to be paid by 10 days. Car will stay until fund transfer is validated and complete. Might deliver for a $1 mile if you are 300 miles or less. Good luck.
