Gillet Vertigo is not a regular commercial sport car. It does not feature the comfort and options of a regular car such as power brakes, power steering and so on. It is a pure bone racing car adapted to comply with norms and be allowed and registered for driving on public roads. The car is currently registered and plated and insured in Toronto Canada and it can be registered anywhere in the European Union, Russia, Mexico, South America, Middle East, Africa and Asia. It is the buyer's responsibility to import and register the car into the US either as a regular car going through a process of modifications to comply with US Norms or as other available options such as show and display, collectible item, use for race track only, etc. The car features a Ford Cossworth Super Charged Turbo N5C4 cylinder in line racing engine with 260 HP/158kW @ 6000 rpm while it weights only about 750 Kg which makes it incredibly powerful and fast. Compression 8.0:1, Torque DIN Nm 276@4500rpm, Compressor Garatt TB0384.
Gillet Vertigo has established in 1997 and 1998 World Records for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and the racing version has won several Gran Prix, GT, GT1-3 Championships. It is highly recommended for trained drivers only or as a collectible car.The car is in mint condition, runs and looks perfect and it has been every year serviced at factory in Belgium until 2014 when it was legally imported and registered in Canada and hasn t been driven anymore except for some weekends some 1000 km in total. The car needs new rear tires and the speedometer doesn't work properly anymore after the last inspection. Most probably a loose cable.Car has now 47000 Km, features immaculate alcantara sport seats and a Momo steering wheel, 5 speed manual transmission, air condition and a stereo cd which you can t really enjoy if you really want to enjoy this car.If you are over 6 feet tall you will not be comfortable in this car or not able to fit in the car.Very serious offers only please. Gillet is a Belgian automobile manufacturer, started in 1992 by former racing driver Tony Gillet. The company produces the Vertigo sports coupé, an ultra-lightweight (990 kg) 'bespoke' and hand-built sportscar. The first Vertigo was powered by a Ford Cosworth 2.0 litre 4-in-line, later evolutions are powered by more powerful engines: the 3.0 litre Alfa Romeo V6 engine and the 4.2 litre Ferrari/Maserati V8 in the latest evolution called Vertigo.5. The first Vertigo prototype was finished in 1991 and shown at the 71st Brussels Auto Show in January 1992. In the following two years the car was finalised for production. It was shown at the Paris and Geneva car shows in 1993. Two more cars were built: a second prototype to finalise production design and the first production car, which was used for certification, including the frontal crash-test, seat anchorage resistance and safety belts anchorage resistance tests. The production Vertigo differed from the first prototype in materials and design. The chassis was fabricated from carbon fibre and honeycomb materials (a technology directly borrowed from Formula One), ensuring greater strength and stiffness, while saving 58 kg (128 lb) in chassis weight. The body was given more fluid lines with higher side windows and retractable headlights, making it closer to the first design drawings. The Vertigo held the 0–100 km/h record for production cars at 3.1 seconds, but this has since been broken. Production on the Vertigo actually began back in 1994 and continues today. The car is a small series, very exclusive car, factory produced in Belgium , and while the body and engines have changed a few times this car has essentially been in production for 19 years!
