You’re bidding on a unique 1947 Hudson Super Six Coupe that has been resto-rodded into a wicked example of American metal. This older restoration was intended to be a strip car, but due to the previous owner’s declining health was shut up in a barn for a number of years where it aged like a fine wine until it was pulled out and came into my care.
This was meant to be my first hot rod, but lack of space (heading back to college in a couple weeks) has led me to end the experience that is this car, and pass it on to someone else who can give it the attention it deserves. Must sell soon!
About the car:
The mean Chevy 350 under the hood and sporty suspension set up feel as if they are native to the car, and provide a driving experience matched by no other. While in the driver’s seat (which is sourced from a Ford Ranger and fits the car both in terms of size and style), you’ll be turning heads long before the car is even in sight thanks to the way its dual exhaust resonates down the asphalt. Then, lay eyes on the striking art deco styling sculpted into this postwar beauty, whose design sits at the intersection of poise and power. Newer illuminated gauges in the cockpit paint a tasteful, yet informative picture of the car’s health, wrapping up the visual package.
I never truly got to appreciate this car; it spent most of its tenure with me in the garage. For this reason, the new parts and maintenance listed have less than 15 miles on them. Furthermore, as far as I know, between the previous owner and me, this current build has never been beat on, and so it still drives like its fresh.
For a 68 year old car, it is in fantastic shape, with all parts appearing solid. Panels are well gapped and the intended shape. However, there are a number of cosmetic defects that could be addressed. The paint, while glossy in some areas, is chipping in others, as is the same with pitting in some chrome; the headliner could use a professional cleaning or replacement; I haven’t driven it fast enough to be sure, but the speedometer may not fully function; and the passenger side lower rear fender trim has fallen off and could use repair before being reinstalled. These come in addition to normal wear and tear associated with a car.
At the end of the day, this car is a blank slate: it can easily be a solid rat rod with genuine character, or a few of dollars more and you could have a fantastic competitive car. No matter your plans, bid with the confidence that you are getting an excellent car!
Housekeeping:
I understand that my lack of feedback is a red flag for some buyers; this is why I’ve included my telephone number. I want you to buy this car with the same level of confidence that I demand. Feel free to ask any questions, or even ask to come out to see the car.
Post sale, I’m willing to help with pick up in any way that I can, be it transport, directions, or a ride from the airport. Money order is my preferred method of payment. Winning bidder must pay deposit within 24 hours of winning bid. No warranties are given, express or implied. Thanks!
