This is a very nice Morris Minor - one of the nicest ones around.
UPGRADED This Morris looks original but hidden around the car are a few important things like disk brakes, electronic ignition, better rear gear ratio, seatbelts etc that make this a much safer and more practical car on today's roads, while carefully preserving the absolutely stock look of this wonderful little car. Most of the upgrades are using original Morris parts sent over from England, including the new rear axle differential ansd the front disk brakes.
RELIABLE - you can jump in this car and drive it every day. It has super handling - great stopping power and really nice driving power too.
ENGINE - It has the 948cc engine and that has been equipped with double valve springs, new piston rings, new big-end bearings this year. Also it has electronic ignition (the Hot Spark HS25D4 Distributor with 3LUC4-25D Electronic Ignition), which means no more adjusting points or dwell etc. ever!
It runs very smoothly and strongly. A modern electric fuel pump was also installed.
The engine is so smooth and never misfires.
GEARBOX AND REAR DRIVE - The ribcase gearbox was overhauled in 2014 and is excellent in all gears. NO jumping out of gear like so many other Morrisses.
It has a 4.22 differential (used on the later Morris Minors) installed last month - instead of the stock 4.55. That means it can now keep up with traffic on the freeway. The best freeway speed to use is 55-60 mph so that you don't have too high revs.
WHEELS and BRAKES - New wheel bearings all round - good for many years now. New brake shoes and pads this year. New flexible brake lines for the disk brakes. New radials all round.
It was converted fully to left hand drive (before I bought the car) and also has normal negative-ground electrics, so it's just like any North American car's electrics now.
INTERIOR - The interior is in very nice condition, with nice and comfortable (new) seats, new carpet. Also thick soundproofing felt has been installed everywhere - even behind the roof lining. It has brand new shoulder and lap seatbelts. It has the Smiths heater, which is really good and heats the interior super-well in the winter. New roof headliner and glovebox liners, new parcel shelf carpeting. The trunk has new wood panels, made of 5/8 plywood with shellac finish.
EXTERIOR - There is no visible rust anywhere. The spring hangers are perfect, the jacking points, the floors - all perfect. The chorme is decent and I have several spare chrome parts to go with the car. I added a locking handle on the driver's door - only the passenger side door had a key lock when I bought the car because it used to be right-hand drive back years ago. Now it has a key lock on both sides.
It's a nice, nippy car around town and gets about 38 miles to the gallon. Very easy to drive, goes well, stops well and such a comfortable ride. It's also good on the freeways - we have some long, steep hills around here and I need to shift down into 3rd gear on some of them but on the steepest ones it's still doing 45-50mph with two of us on board.
OVERALL CONDITION - The car is absolutely stock 1957 other than the disc brakes and changed rear-end ratio.
Under the hood is simple, standard '57 Morris but it's all clean and the engine recently overhauled.
New seat belts, good paint.
Super easy to maintain.
No smog tests required ever!
Very cheap insurance. We pay $180 per year for insurance because it's a classed as a super-classic and we only do a couple of hundred miles per year at most.
PAINTWORK and BODY - No rust bubbles and the floors and chassis are all rust free too.
This wonderful little car can really promote your business because everybody sees you when you're driving and it has really boosted our sales. You can see our vinyl graphics on the car in some of the pictures. We just won't have a place to keep it shortly, since I'm now about to use our garage to build a kit airplane.
SPARE PARTS - I have many to be included with the car. Spare disk pads, gaskets, wheel bearings, brake slave cylinders and many more brand new parts for this car as well as many good used parts too.
This little classic car will gain in value every year. The car isn't a concourse-condition car but is a fine daily driver in excellent condition. It really gets noticed.
I can arrange the lowest-cost insured shipping of the car.
Thanks for looking!
I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE THE CAR FROM THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME IF IT HASN'T REACHED THE RESERVE PRICE
