STOCK NOBLE M400 SPECS
:
The Noble M400 features a mid-mounted transverse engine design. The power plant began life as a 2, 968 cc DOHC Ford Duratec V6 with four valves per cylinder. With this engine as a base, Noble fits high-lift camshafts, revised fuel injection, two turbochargers, and a Roush Racing mapped ECU.
For durability, Noble also added forged pistons, an oil cooler, a larger baffled oil sump, and extra cooling ducts. The base engine has a maximum power of 425 bhp at 6, 500 rpm, with torque of 390 lb·ft at 5, 000 rpm. This power and a light weight allow the M400 to achieve a power-to-weight ratio of just over 400 bhp/ton, the figure for which it was named, a 0–60 mph of 3.2 seconds and a 1/4-mile time of 11.4 @ 119.8 mph (192.8 km/h). Top speed is 187 mph.
MY NOBLE M400 UPGRADES & STORY
:
My Noble was the last new Noble ever sold by 1G Racing (the exclusive US representative for Noble). VIN is NUS0157. I had been in the hunt for a dedicated track car and when I contacted the owner of 1G Racing in January 2009. I found that they had one remaining Noble M400. I picked the car up in February 2009 and took the car to 9 track events over the balance of 2009. In the fall of that year, I took the car to Performance Autowerks in Tallahassee, Florida, one of the top Noble performance shops in the US and had the following upgrades and improvements done: flashed the engine, upgraded the brake ducts, tunnel cooling, carbon wing, aluminum front splitter with adjusters, full fire suppression system, Setrab oil cooler.
In November 2009, with just 3, 962 miles, the engine was blown at Road Atlanta. The blown engine caught fire briefly in the engine compartment but was promptly put out with a fire extinguisher by a corner worker at the track. Following the incident, the car was taken back to Performance Autowerks. There they went through the car completely, installing a new Noble engine and repairing/replacing every component that was damaged from the engine compartment fire (at a cost of $22K). Additionally, I had the car repainted, which was actually a higher quality paint job than the original one, with the two red stripes painted on versus a vinyl decal as is the case on most Nobles. The car's latest dyno reflects 464 bhp at the wheels and torque of 466 lb-ft.
Since getting the car back in early 2010, the car has never been back on track. It has been a garage queen with just occasional driving around town. With 5215 miles on the car today, the new engine has just over 1, 000 miles on it with zero track miles. The car is in excellent condition and I just had it gone through completely in Tallahassee, Florida just a few months ago. It's ready for a new owner who will continue to enjoy this rare, one of a kind vehicle.
I can vouch for the fact that this car is an absolute animal in terms of raw power, exhaust sounds that will quicken your heartbeats, acceleration that will give you an undeniable adrenaline rush, and continuous stares and thumbs ups from everyone who sees it. For the money, there is hardly a car that will push all the right buttons like this one does.
