1935 AUBURN SUPERCHARGED 851 CABRIOLET FULL CCCA CLASSIC
1935 Auburn 851 Supercharged Cabriolet with rumble seat. Older restoration. Interesting history. Was delivered new with a detachable hardtop. When the car was first restored 35+ years ago, the correct supercharger was added and the car was returned to its cabriolet form. The leather was recently redone as was the black canvas top. The two speed rear works. The car runs well. This supercharged Eight cylinder Auburn is a full CCCA Classic. It shares the same chassis and running gear as does the 851 Auburn Speedster, but at a fraction of an Sc 851 Speedster's selling price. Museum stored in central Virginia. PLEASE NOTE: I received an email from someone that had seen this Ebay offering. Aparently, he is an expert on S/C Auburn's and wanted to bring to my attention, the following; The engine block in this cabriolet is actually a 1936 and not its original 1935. Further, he stated that 1935 models have a big rectangular side plate on the passenger side of the engine. Mine has, what knowledgeable Auburn collectors refer to as five round freeze plugs and they only came on 1936 Auburn's. He further suggested that I consider putting a new data tag on the car and having the letters GH stamped as a prefix on the motor number, as that would signify the car as a Supercharged version. I do appreciate the information and I presume this guy is legit, but I do intend to sell this car exactly as she sits. I offer this information in the spirit of full disclosure and I have accepted it on its face value. I had been told that the supercharger had been added and represented it as such. I was unaware of the block being a 1936 and not a 1935. I hope this helps. - Thanks for all of the text messages.
