I am the original owner of this car, and bought it new from the factory. This Rally Fighter rolled out of the Local Motors factory in Jan 2013, with about $15k of factory-installed and aftermarket upgrades. It was also the car used in the Jay Leno’s Garage episode, which you can view on youtube.
I have driven the car in the dunes/desert (as it was intended for), and I can tell you that it does perform. I added a heat exchanger, another transmission oil cooler (with dual fans) and extra hose/coolant, to help manage the transmission temps when driving off-road.
I have also put urban and highway miles on the car. Despite being an off-road machine, it surprisingly handles well on the road…..the wide wheelbase and torsion bars allow for high-speed cornering. The 50/50 weight distribution, and the “industrial” power steering system, offer feather-lite steering. Parking is no different than any other SUV or full-sized truck. There are a few blind spots around the rear of the car, and you’ll need to rely on the rear camera, but after you get a few miles under your belt, it becomes second nature.
The technical specs and performance capabilities of this car speak for themselves. However, this car gets a lot of attention! The car has its own paparazzi…..literally, someone takes a photo or video every 1-2 miles of driving…..and it’s the talking point of every parking lot, gas station, carwash, etc. So, make sure you have some time on your hands when you decide to take it out for a drive.
This car is titled and registered in the state of North Carolina, with a state-issued ID #NCS96535.
The Buyer is responsible for pick up and all shipping charges.

LS3 EROD, 6.2L, all aluminum V8. Local Motors purchases the engines directly from GM Performance parts, and then adds all of the accessories.
· Transmission: 4L85E, 4-speed Automatic (with street and off-road settings).
The 4 speed transmission was an optional factory upgrade.

This was an optional factory upgrade. Personally, I haven’t seen many of the Rally Fighters leaving the factory with this option. But, I think it adds a lot to the street-appeal of the car.
