Here is a 1980 Rover SD1 4-door sedan with many upgrades and extras. It has a 3.9 liter (instead of the original 3.5). Approximately 3500 miles ago, this engine was rebuilt with new sleeves and pistons, uprated oil pump, Kent cam (very mild), all other internals new or as new. Troublesome fuel injection was replaced with Edelbrock Performer dual plane intake and Edelbrock 500 cfm 4 barrel carburetor. At the same time, was fitted with a light flywheel, self-centering clutch, Allison electronic ignition, European split exhaust manifolds, uprated 5-speed gearbox, 4-piston front caliper brakes, aluminum radiator, and a stainless steel exhaust system. Also at that time was fitted with 4 Kumho touring tires, new rear springs and shocks, new double-ended SU fuel pump, and the 85 MPH speedo was replaced with the European spec 140 MPH speedo (therefore, we do not know the exact mileage).
This car was driven by our owner as his personal car since 1989, and received meticulous maintenance on all systems as required. The only problem that we are aware of is that the power steering rack is leaking. A new remanufactured rack will be provided with the car to be installed by the new owner. Also provided with the car are a factory parts book and service manuals. Also includes several boxes of extra parts.
The Rover SD1 is itself a unique, seldom seen vehicle, but this one is unique even for an SD1. Truly a special vehicle.
