We have plenty of cars when we go for a drive, none are more fun that the Smart Cabriolet. The shifting is done on the steering wheel, with paddles for up a gear and down a gear. In addition, an on dash indicator has an up arrow, or down arrow to suggest your next shift. No clutch pedal here no grinding noise, just fun. My wife didn't even know you could shift until I told her last week.
We are in our mid sixties, don't take car trips, and our town is rather smallish. We bought the Cabriolet in July 2013. The mileage on the title was 19, 880. Today, almost 2 years later, the mileage is at 20, 661. It has been impeccably maintained by our full time mechanic Nathon Robinson (501-538-2142)

| “All Smart models include a very economical rear-mounted 1.0L, 70-horsepower inline 3-cylinder engine with 68 pound/feet of torque. A 5-speed automated manual transmission is standard on all fortwos. There is no clutch pedal but rather a button that allows either manual gear selection--by tapping forward to go up a gear or back to go down a gear--or a fully automatic mode on the Passion trim.
