Let me say some word about This Little Yellow Beauty.
1978 Zaporozhets 968A
Vin# 968AZ80340478
THIS CAR HAS A FLORIDA TITLE ON HAND !!
CAR IS LOCATED IN MIAMI FLORIDA !
Little Sun Shine spent her last 10 years in the collection of a
Hungarian auto collector keeping her in very good condition , drove her to
meetings on weekends.
The original mileage is 32072 mileage / 51615km !
The interior was in so nice-original condition , that we only put
a new headliner in , the rest is original. Check out the brown - Cognac color
leather interior , very comfortable
ones even on long roads .
All electrical wiring was removed and checked before painting as u
see it on the pictures. All electrical equipment was tested O.K. after
reassemble, everything is functional , ready for some Love and Driving .
She went thru a complete frame up restoration and at the end she
got a brand new yellow paint job and all the original parts were
necessary to make her look this pretty !
My personal opinion is that the little body is really close to the
NSUs from the same era.
It has the 1197 cc-73 cu in V4 41PS air cooled engine , running excellent .
Engine Starts for the first spin in the morning, after that purrs
thru the whole day , it really has a likable engine note since the layout is
not an everyday one-V4 rear engine ! The transmission is a 4 speed manual on
the floor , shifts with ease.
The power train layout is rear engine rear wheel drive
Since this one is a 968A it already has the updated interior with
the padded dashboard. Interior is in excellent shape.
Also feature the infamous fuel fed heater since the car is air
cooled and some of the places they drove these cars were and still crazy cold .
The heater is similar to oil fed heaters but simply they divided the fuel line
and VOILA there is a Heater. You have to have some GUTS to start it up and use
it, but Man it can heat up the little interior even in the coldest winter .
Check the detailed pictures for the work what was done to her .
Now a little bit about the origin of these Car
ZAZ Zaporozhets
was a series of rear wheel drive subcompact cars designed and built from 1958 at
the ZAZ factory in Soviet Ukraine . Different models of the Zaporozhets, all of which had
an air-cooled engine in the rear, were produced until 1994. The final series was the 968M .
The name Zaporozhets translates into a Cossack of the Zaporizhian Sich or а man from Zaporizhia or the Zaporizhia Oblast.
Zaporozhets is still well known in many former Soviet states. Like the Volkswagen Beetle or East Germany's Trabant, the Zaporozhets was destined to become a people's
car of the Soviet Union, and as such it was the most affordable vehicle
of its era. At the same time, it was rather sturdy and known for its superior crossing
performance on poor roads in comparison to their larger Russian-made
counterparts at a time when foreign cars were very difficult to come by.
Another important advantage of the Zaporozhets was its ease of
repairs. The car's appearance gave birth to several nicknames that became well known across
the Soviet Union example horbatyi Hunchback.
Numerous special versions of the Zaporozhets were produced, equipped with additional sets of controls that allowed operating the car with a
limited set of limbs, and were given for free or with considerable discounts to
disabled people, especially war veterans. These special versions would at
times consume up to 20% of ZAZ factory output.
The
ZAZ-968
and its modifications were produced
from 1971 to 1980 which is the second generation of
the Zaporozhets It featured a 40 hp (30 kW;
41 PS) 1, 197 cc
(73.0 cu in) V4 air cooled . The exterior design was slightly
modernized. The most obvious alteration was replacing the fake chrome grille in the car's front with a
horizontal chrome decoration. Among other changes was the less
austere dashboard and better front brakes. The 968 was discontinued in
1978, having been produced simultaneously with the newer
968A
since
1973, which was produced until 1980. It introduced new safety measures, including a safer driving wheel and a plastic dashboard instead of the earlier
metal one. The 968A also had its variants for the disabled the ZAZ-968R, B, B2, AB, and AB2 with the 30 hp (22 kW; 30 PS)
887 cc (54.1 cu in) engine.
Toward the end of 1974, an up-market 968A debuted, surviving
until 1979. Among its improvements were padded dash, energy-absorbing
(collapsing) steering column, and seats from the LADA 1200 A.K.A. VAZ-2101.
