Letting go of a nice old car. I've put many evening and weekend hours of tinkering needed to get the engine rebuilt, reassembled, and running. The transmission opened, inspected, and re-sealed. New drive shaft and u-joints. New brake shoes, lines, and cylinders (wheel and master). Rebuilt the gas tank, pump, and lines. New carburetor. Mostly all new or reconditioned mechanical parts...with the exception of the knee action shocks. All electricals work. I have the original radio, but not installed. I have yet to put this car on the road to make sure everything is tip top. .but the work was done carefully and by the book. The only thing not original is I installed a 1950 Packard o/d transmission and made allowances to use the original 1938 top loading shifter mechanism.
There is still plenty of work left for the next guy. I'm just sorta ready to move on to something different. Looking around for a 60s to 70s 4x4 pickup. On May-30-15 at 10:42:59 PDT, seller added the following information:
Lots of questions about the tires and wheels: I have all the original wheels including the spare. No rubber at this point. I will put new tires on it when it sells. That way it can be driven for shipment.
Also, to clarify, it runs great. New rebuilt motor. New gaskets, fuel pump, water pump, water distribution tube, chrome acorn head nuts, rebuilt oil pump, new bearings, etc... It is the original motor (according to the casting numbers), but not the original carburetor. Apparently is was common to replace the original with a 1940-1 Packard six cylinder carb. .easier to tune and has an electic choke (which works fine).
