1955 Packard Clipper Custom Constellation Hardtop Coupe. Survivor car with 39, 070 documented miles since new.
This is the top of the line model in the Clipper series.
Exterior:
Straight and rust free southern car that has always been cared for. Solid frame and body, no bondo. Excellent original chrome and trim. The car has had one high quality repaint in its original color 25 years ago. The paint is still excellent, with no scratches or dings. The engine compartment has been redone and detailed to factory new look, correct labels, glass jar, hood insulation etc.
Interior:
Beautiful original interior. Only the carpet (correct material) and headliner have been replaced. Seats, door panel and dash are still original. All glass is nice. Dash details are like new. The trunk has been redone in original style material. All windows work well.
Mechanical:
352 4 bbl engine and Twin Ultramatic auto transmission. With only 39, 070 miles the engine and transmission operates like new, running very smooth and strong. No smoke, no noises. Front end, steering, brakes, exhaust etc are all in excellent condition. The entire brake system, including the power booster, has recently been rebuilt. The radiator has been recently recored, and a new correct fuel pump is in place. The motorized automatic leveling control works perfectly. (Can be switched off from a factory switch on the dash if desired). Nice Coker whitewall tires. Everything on the car works, except the original am radio.
History:
The car has spent its life in Georgia and Florida. The previous owner had the car for 18 years. I have also spoken to another long term owner who had it more than 30 years ago. The car had 24, 999 miles in February of 1989, 36, 952 miles in February of 1998, and it currently has 39, 070 miles. All the previous owners and the paperwork that comes with the car confirm the miles. The original owner's manual is included, as well as older paperwork. The car won 2nd place in its class at a national Packard show in 1993 (points were deducted for the engine compartment, which has since been detailed).
