Packard Clipper conv. (1953)
for sale
Price: US $28,000.00
Price: US $28,000.00
NOTE: the Buy It Now price is for the Packard as now showing, needing both seats recovered. A $29, 500 buy price will include the seats (front & back) recovered in leather. It will NOT include new carpeting. The door & rear side panels are clean/would not need replacement, most likely. The prices are firm, or will increase if I commission the seats recovering and/or the job is completed. This car looks astounding with the top down & would probably sell faster with that view, but my one man show creates limitations.
A top down image will be available within this listing run, or the next. Many other pictures are available, or can be taken.
Starts, accelerates, & shifts quietly. Still starts with gas pedal push & has the original old fashioned 6 volt battery; positive ground. Starting is so easy the 6 volts doesn't seem to strain. Power top, brakes, antenna.
Body & Paint: solid body metals in floors & trunk (as able to see from underneath). Some bondo used on rocker in front of driver side rear wheel. Splash fender areas & wells are rust free. The repaint is a nice job with almost no blemishes (definitely no bubbles, cracking, or pops). All the glass is perfect as well as chrome-stainless framings. Windows roll up/down great. Doors close nicely with hardly any effort & have good allignments with NO drops. No rust at the bottoms or skins.
Interior & top: This has a power top with the original motorized hydraulic pump & makes like it will work, but probably has air in the system. It can manually be put down, but would take two people to put up. The top material is as pictured needing a small repair & a plastic window replace. Top clamps nicely with very little effort.
Engine: A straight eight original REBUILT flathead motor. Smooth operation, no oil smoke, not overheat & no valve tapping.
Transmission: Original Automatic-shifts as if it is 10 years old; not 62.
Stability: Stays fairly true on road, but does have steering wheel play (acceptable & better than most I've known). Brakes seem very safe
Gauges: These are working-gas, charge, added oil pressure & temperature are mounted below dash. Back-up lights do not work. All other lights, horn, heater blower motor, Speedometer, power antenna work. Heater is hooked up.
Similar to the Hudson & Kaiser family traditions.
