1949 Packard 2362 Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan The pinnacle of post-war Packard motorcars! Luxury amenities throughout and a beautiful cormorant on the hood! Treat yourself to Packard luxury for not much money!
Packard’s 1949 model year, known in the enthusiast community as the esteemed brand’s 23rd series, carried over many styling cues from the previous year. In fact, only the sharpest eyes can tell the difference in the model years, with the main differences being the slightly altered grille and chrome. The main changes happened in the Packard headquarters, where Hugh Ferry was appointed the new president while Packard was celebrating its 50th anniversary!
We are very excited to offer this 1949 Packard Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan! Finished in a handsome and traditional shade of Black over Tan Bedford Cloth upholstery with red piping, this elegant five-seater carries with it such an understated presence as one of the premier luxury sedans on the post-war era! The car is powered by its original 288ci Inline 8 (stamped H231619, dated 7-25-49) with Carter carburetion and 3-speed column-shift manual transmission! Options and features on this particular example include heat/defrost, AM radio, fender skirts, rear grab handle, faux wood dash and door garnish moldings. The car rides on Packard hubcaps with 8.20-15 Firestone Deluxe Champion wide whitewall tires!
The previous owner of this magnificent Packard purchased the car in 2000 and drove the car home to Missouri from California. Still wearing its California plates and 1998 registration, this Eight has been lovingly enjoyed on nice days since being brought to its home in Jefferson City, MO. The paint and chrome were done prior to his purchase and were polished to a nice shine under our supervision. Similarly, the engine compartment was given a thorough detailing with an emphasis on returning all surfaces to their original finishes. The interior was done prior to his purchase and also shows very well, with only minimal wear on the seats. Overall, this presents an opportunity to own one of the era’s finest sedans and one that is very authentic and mechanically outstanding. We would invite any interested parties to call with additional questions! Thanks for looking!
