1908 Indiana PRESTATE license plate PAIR (GIBBY GOOD)

This is a nice pair of all original IN "08 temporary license plates. From 1905 through 1912, Indiana motorists were required to provide their own license plates, bearing the registration number issued by the State. It is believed that cardboard temporary plates were issued to vehicle owners, to be used while awaiting fabrication of the permanent plates. This pair is the only known example of Indiana temporary prestate plates, and the number was issued in 1908. Scroll down to view the enlarged image. Grades G/FG by ALPCA and MLPCA standards.
