You are bidding on a SUPER, vintage 1917 NEW YORK license plate! Large (almost 15 long), heavier tag has a RARE olive-green base with bright white embossed lettering and rims. 100% ORIGINAL, with NO TOUCH-UPS, and STILL has absolutely fantastic paint gloss (especially on back), which is VERY TOUGH TO FIND on New York issues of this vintage! From the year the USA entered World War I (befitting this military-colored tag) and the famed year of the Russian Revolution that overthrew the old Czarist regime.
Plate is STRAIGHT and lies FLAT, with ABSOLUTELY NO bends and almost NO surface rust. Almost all surface rust has been cleaned away. There are a few small minor areas of paint loss near edges, as shown, and clearly some small drips of extra cream/off-white paint on left side of front of tag. Also four very tiny pinholes from an old mounting job, one near each corner, but hardly detectable. Metal and original paint are ABSOLUTELY SOLID, however. Displays fantastically on your vintage "10s auto or your den or man-cave wall! In great shape AND it"s nearly 100 years old! Plate you see (registration 91-420) is the exact plate you"ll receive.
