Lightweight tag has a bright off-white base with jet-black embossed lettering and rims. 100% ORIGINAL, with NO TOUCH-UPS, and still EXCELLENT paint gloss! From the year after the USA entered World War II, and the year the St. Louis Cardinals won their fourth World Series title. 1942 was also the last year US auto companies produced new automobiles until the end of the war, making this a HISTORIC ISSUE!
Plate is totally STRAIGHT and lies completely FLAT, with absolutely NO BENDS, NO EXTRA HOLES and NO SURFACE RUST. There are scattered scratches, dents (mostly around rims) and chips from old rust that has been completely cleaned away and consistent with age. Paint color is superb and TOTALLY ORIGINAL, and metal is COMPLETELY SOLID. Displays fantastically on your vintage "40s auto or your den, garage, or man-cave wall!
