In the nearly 100-year history of Texas license plates, 1946 was one of only two years in which motorists were issued just a single plate, (and not a pair). This makes the 1946 Texas plate a rather scarce item.Condition is only Fair Good to not quite Good Minus due to some surface rust. Please see the close-up photo for detail.I have seen the black and white paint on these old tags brighten up nicely when the right acidic chemicals are applied, but I have done so with this plate, nor have I ever even cleaned it.This plate is nice and solid and straight, it lays mostly flat, and there are no extra holes.
