“VG”

This plate is all original with no restoration of any kind. You are looking at the first variety of Delaware stainless steel license plates. It features bare stainless steel riveted numbers with no reflectorization. This variety was issued ONLY between 1948 and 1950, and they are much harder to find in nice condition than the black porcelain license plates.Delaware license plate collectors will tell you that the black paint on these stainless steel base plates easily scratched, and often flaked off. As you can see, most of the black paint is still intact. This is perhaps the nicest example of a 1948-50 black stainless Delaware tag that I have ever owned. This plate is nice and solid and straight, and it lays mostly flat with no bends or warp, and there are no extra holes. During these years, Delaware motorists were issued only a single license plate, (not a pair). If you live in Delaware, please note: This number is NOT available for you to register to your car, as the number is currently in use.Low $4.99 Priority Mail shipping in the US.
