1949 Virginia Not Metal ALUMINUM POST WAR License Plate #521-562

This is an Approved Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles License Plate. It is my understanding that metal and steel were unavailable due to heavy usage during WWII so aluminum was used on Virginia License Plates in 1946, 47, 48 & 49 and they were only used on the rear of the vehicle, not used on the front.
