1954 Maryland Governor Front License Plate Authentic Used Genuine
“G”
This plate has all original paint with no restoration of any kind. In 1954, Maryland issued only one license plate, which was used on the rear of the car. You are looking at the front license plate that was used by the Governor that year. Unlike the rear plate, it did not read Governor, but instead was a standard, blank 1954 plate with a large heavy gold-colored state seal in the center. Overall size is 6.125 by 13.125.The plate is in a vintage steel telescoping-style license plate frame. Along the bottom and right edge, part of the familiar yellow painted border of 1954 plates can be seen. The thick metal seal is about 4 inches wide, 4.75 inches high, and 1/8 thick, and it is secured to the plate by two brass screws, which can be seen on the back. This license plate belonged to Governor Theodore Roosevelt McKeldin, a Republican, who served from 1951 to 1959. I obtained this item, along with a batch of other old Maryland political license plates from a man whose family was friendly with Governor McKeldin. Low $4.99 Priority Mail shipping in the US.
