This plate is in Very Good condition. It is all original, with no restoration of any kind.It is quite rare to see one of these with so much of the original black background paint still remaining. This is because the paint was thinly applied to a shiny, unprimed stainless steel surface. Today, on most plates, much of the of the black paint has scratched or flaked off. The plate you are looking at is better than more than 95% of these stainless plates which have survived.This plate does not have the bare stainless steel numbers, it has numbers which are coated with a reflectorized white finish. This finish tends to get dull and gray over time.During this era, Delaware motorists were issued a single license plate, (not a pair).
