1963 Tennessee Rental Travel Trailer License Plate Rare! Davidson Cnty Nashville
“Good-Very Good 2xhs”
This is a rather rare little plate for several reasons. The ALPCA archives list this issue back to 1964, but here is proof that an example from 1963 exists. It also measures 9 1/8 inches long by 4 1/4 inches high, while other plates from this era were 8 by 3.5. These plates, known as Trailer E tags, were used by rented travel trailers, and even rented utility trailers. The number 1 prefix is a code for Davidson County, (Nashville), which at the time was the most populous in the Volunteer State. In later years, these plates used a TE prefix, and were full-sized 6x12 inch license plates. I checked "s archive of past listings, and I could not find another license plate of this type offered in a sale or auction. If you collect strange and unusual Tennessee plates, you need this strange little tag in your collection.
