1974 Washington DC District of Columbia License Plate Congress Topper Low Number
“G-/G & VG”
This lot consists of two items: A rare, low number three digit Washington DC license plate PLUS a US Congressional Staff license plate topper. Each has an embossed expiration date for sometime in March, 1974.This low numbered plate belonged to a VIP. In 1974, DC issued green vinyl license plate stickers to most motorists, but only if you had a prestigious number of three digits or less did you receive a new set of plates with an embossed 74 date.Interestingly, while this plate and the topper are unquestionably the same age, the notoriously poor quality of manufacture suffered by DC license plates is seen, because it has survived in only Good Minus to Barely Good condition. Meanwhile, the topper is of much higher quality, with all original paint that is still glossy after many decades. These historic items date to the height of the Watergate scandal. Richard Nixon was President during the time they were used, but later in 1974 he resigned his office. Both of these items are offered today in one lot. Sorry, but we will not sell the items separately.Priority Mail shipping is a low $4.99 in the US.YES, we combine shipping costs!
