1976 Tennessee Motorcycle License Plate MINT NOS Nice!! NO RESERVE
“Mint/NOS”
This plate is MINT/New-Old-Stock condition, and has never been on a vehicle. It is still quite glossy after 40 years.I received this license plate directly from Tennessee Governor Ray Blanton, along with a signed personal letter from him. When I was a kid back in the 1970s, I wrote to every state"s governor asking for a Bicentennial license plate for my collection. Some of the governors ignored me, some charged me a few bucks for a sample plate, but Governor Blanton was the most generous, as he sent me a whole box of Tennessee plates at no charge, and postage paid. In that box was this mint cycle tag.Blanton was later accused of extravagant spending and for giving away expensive gifts while in office, as well as for selling pardons and liquor licenses. He ended up in Federal prison. This little tag is one of the very last of my gifts from the generous Governor Blanton. This beautiful, mint motorcycle license plate is offered today at NO RESERVE and very low $1.99 shipping in the US.
