Here"s a nice original 1987 Maine passenger vanity license plate or tag L-STRAW or LAST STRAW on a black on white Vacationland base , as shown.
This a passenger vehicle (private car) vanity license plate that seems to have been issued to someone who had reached their breaking point, because they opted to display their exasperation for all the motoring world to see with this plate, L-STRAW, which I believe means LAST STRAW. Seems appropriate for the times in which we"re living now, it"s a cool collector plate that would look great on your wall or among a similarly themed run of plates showing frustration or contempt.
In accordance with policies, all plates being offered are expired and at least three (3) years old; this plate expired in 1987, thus, it is 30 years old. This plate is offered for collectible, souvenir, craft, man cave or other decorative or hobby purposes but MAY NOT EVER be displayed on any motor vehicle, unless expressly authorized in writing by the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Maine Motor Vehicle Registry or MaineDOT. Bidders participating in this auction agree to these terms and further agree not to misuse these plates in any way, including in any way that may violate any laws, statutes, ordinances, etc.
In my opinion, this plate is in Good (G) original condition. It has moderate wear to the upper bolt holes with some scotchlite removed there, several cracks to the background scotchlite, some small bends, a few small ripples in the top edge, and some scuffing or crazing to the lower edge. This plate does not lays flat -- it is warped slightly. Otherwise it"s in very nice original condition. Also perfect for a Maine collector, oddball collector, vanity plate collector, or just anyone who thinks it would look cool on their wall.
Beyond the specific description, any plates offered may also have dirt, scratches, scuffs, paint chips, bends, dents, enlarged bolt holes, bolts attached, extra holes, jagged edges, rust, odor, etc. They are used but displayable and should clean up some more if the buyer chooses to try and improve on their condition. I am selling them as is. Please examine the photos carefully as this/these is/are the plate(s) you will receive if you win this lot.
