This is a 1991 passenger car license plate with a 1994 sticker issued by South Carolina. Per requirements, the age of the plate is specifically stated to be approximately 22 years old. It was originally on a 1977 Lincoln belonging to my dad.
The plate is very attractive; however, I have heard that at the time it was released, it was highly criticized for portraying a yellow Carolina wren with a drooping tail instead of a more realistic representation of a brown one with an upright tail. Some owners actually placed stickers of more accurate images of the wren over the one depicted on the plate.
The plate has been used and is in original condition. As I am not proficient in grading plates under ALPCA standards, I am trying to avoid any misleading descriptions by posting instead high-resolution photographs which I ask potential buyers to look at carefully before placing a bid. I would be glad to answer any questions or provide additional photos if needed.
