Rare collection of nine pairs of Virginia license plates with the same numbers. This collection starts in 1961 and goes to 1969.
I purchased the estate of a car enthusiast and I will have other items to sell after getting help to research the parts. (Hood emblems. gas caps etc.)
Each set of plates are in the original DMV packet and the protector/divider has the imprint of the plates. Four of the sets still have the registration card in place in the envelopes.
In the 1960"s when I started driving, my parents told me the license plates were made in the prison in Richmond, Virginia. I am not sure quality control was in place at that time in the prison as one of the sets shows a slight manufacturing defect on the edge of the tag. Some of the plates have slight splatter of paint on the plates, some thin paint areas, and a thin scratch on one plate. These can be seen in the pictures. The 1968 plates are slightly bowed. The backs of the plates are in excellent condition. The pictures are part of the description so please ask if you have any questions.
