For sale is an extremely rare 1908 Pre-State/Pre-Porcelain New Jersey License Plate.
This was the year before the porcelain license plates but after the less organized creation of license plates (i.e. wood and leather).
Each of these license plates were individually constructed by the hands of blacksmiths in New Jersey chosen by the driver and user of the license plate.
In that form, each of these plates is one of a kind.
They all display the same colors and are made of individual slats with numbers painted on them that are kept in place by the back metal piece being bent over the slats around the edges.
This is a seriously amazing piece of history.
