Hello you are bidding on a pair of 1948 Illinois Manufacturer licence plates. they were never used with wax paper between. There are some scratches in the orange on the letters on the bottom plate on Illinois. They dont get any better than this for the vintage 1948 auto.  
Most items come from auctions and estate / garage sales. History of these items are not known.
The pictures are part of the description as to condition please ask questions within 10 hours of auction end so I have time to reply.
