What are Special Event Plates?
Special Event plates are official license plates issued by the state to commemorate a group or event.  They are generally used by groups as a fundraiser for the cause or event they sponsor.  Groups apply to the state for the license plates and offer then for sale to patrons. The license plates were valid for use on autos for 60 days. Drivers were required to carry tier current registration card, special event registration and regular license plates inside the vehicle while special event plates were displayed.
