For sale is a lot of 6 original, antique New Jersey registration license plates that consists of 3 pairs of plates. One pair is from 1957, and the other 2 pair are from 1952. The plates are all orange on black.
The 1957 plates are in good shape, there are some scratches and dents, but they have a nice color to them, and are not as rusted or scraped up as much as the 2 pair of 1952 plates. They are 6 x 12 with a stacked NJ embossed at the right.
The 2 pair of 1952 plates both have a revalidation tab affixed to them for the year 1956. This was how plates were validated for each year back then. If you look at the photos of the reverse side of the plates, you will see that the year 1952 is embossed at the bottom of each plate in reverse, and has been covered by the tab on the face of the plates. These 2 pair are a bit more used, there is some rust, and scratches, dents, etc. See all the photos for more detail. The 1952 plates are 6 1/2 x 10 5/8.
These are some very cool plates for a collector of automobilia, or to decorate a man-cave, etc. Own your own little piece of NJ history!
