As a new listing category for me, I present the first of a handful of license plate lots I"ll be posting in the coming days. (Those of you that know me as that record collector guy, well, yeah, turns out I used to collect license plates, too. Collecting must run in the blood!) This is a set of two California plates I got from a friend some years back. These are of the variety issued between October 1987 and approx. November 1993, with the state name stamped in red, serial in blue, and a white reflective backing. Judging by the serial number, I would guess this plate came off the line sometime in late 1990 or early 1991.
Both plates are in very good condition, but show definite signs of pretty normal use. There is some wear on the paint and mild cracking present on both plates, but more pronounced on the rear plate. The month sticker shows some severe fading but is still visible, and the rear plate has both 2001 and 2002 expiration stickers affixed on two different corners.
