US Forces in Okinawa "68 - "72 license plate US sized and style plate issued to the US military forces stationed in Okinawa during the time the islands were under US control. Base-plate issued around 1968 and used thru 1972 when the islands were returned back to Japan. Features a graphic rendition of the Torii gate at top left and "KEYSTONE OF THE PACIFIC" slogan. Okinawa plates are popular with collectors due to the history they represent. Good condition, all original, small extra holes to the left of "A" and top left corner. White paint smear at top left bolt-hole area. Background has gone "alligator-cracked" from exposure to tropical sunlight / weather. Despite all these flaws, not a bad displayable plate.
