This is a rare and authentic New York City taxi medallion for the year 1999 – 2000 (Millennium Edition). This medallion came off of the hood of old NYC taxicab and was actually used/in service. A medallion is issued by the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) and is what authorizes a taxi to operate. Taxi medallions styles change from year to year and this one is no longer being used. At the end of the year the TLC removes these from each taxi and takes them out of service. Each medallion is unique with its own “hack” number. The medallion you see in the picture is the medallion you will get. Measures 6” x 5 ½ ”.
